Former Kollywood actress Vanitha lodged a complaint with the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police today alleging assault and torture by her father and actor Vijayakumar and her actor-brother.

In her complaint, Ms Vanitha said her father and her brother Arun Kumar had assaulted her and her husband Anand Rajan when they refused to allow their child to stay with his grandparents.

Vanitha's husband was arrested last evening on a complaint from Vijayakumar that he had assaulted him resulting in a fracture in his wrist.

Vanitha had on November 7 filed a complaint before Maduravoyal police alleging that Mr Vijaykumar and her brother Arun Kumar had assaulted her and her husband when they went to pick up their son after his holidays.

When Vijaykumar refused to allow their son to go with her, a verbal duel ensued between Vanitha and her father. She tried to take her son away forcibly, resulting in jostling.

Anand Rajan too joined the scuffle and in the melee pushed his father-in-law Vijayakumar down resulting in a fracture in the wrist.

Reacting angrily, Arun had assaulted both Vanitha and her husband and allegedly threatened them of dire conseqeunces.

Based on a complaint from Vijaykumar, the Chennai suburban police arrested Anand Rajan and remanded him in judicial custody.

On coming to know that Vanitha, who had threatened to disclose all the secrets of her father, petitioned the DGP. Vijayakumar and his family decided to move the court for anticipatory bail, fearing arrest in the case.

Vanitha had also named her sister Preetha's husband Hari in her complaint.

Meanwhile, Anand Rajan also filed a petition seeking bail.

Police suspect that cracks had developed in the family over crores of rupees worth property owned by Vijayakumar.
