Fil-Am Oscar Winner a Former ABS-CBN Actress

It's been more than a week after the Oscar Awards, but this Filipino-American from New York still could not believe that the film she co-produced with two other Filipinos, Stephen Dypiangco and Gigi Dement, won an Academy Award for best short film.

"God of Love's" Oscar win is an honor Stefanie Walmsley said she shares with all her kababayans.

"It means everything. I knew that it was an honor to be from the Philippines and I’m very proud to be Filipino," she said.

Walmsley was born in the Philippines. As a child of an American expat, she spent her life going back and forth between the United States and the Philippines.

Walmsley is no stranger to show business. She was a member of ABS-CBN’s Star Circle before she moved to New York in 2000.

In the US , she acted on television movies like "Take Me Home: The John Denver Story" and "Noriega: God’s Favorite," where she worked with Oscar nominee and multi-award winner and actor Bob Hoskins.

But Walmsley said she never thought she would be a film producer - an Oscar winning producer at that.

Her friends said she's got the knack for it.
