The Kannada University has selected veteran playback singer P B Srinivas and four others for the prestigious ‘Nadoja Award'.
In a press release, Vice-Chancellor of the varsity A Murigeppa said that the degree will be conferred at the university's 19th ‘nudihabba' (convocation) to be held on December 21.
P B Srinivas, a household name in south India, is a versatile playback singer. The 76-year-old has sung in several south Indian languages besides Urdu ghazals. He is also a poet.
He is fluent in eight languages (Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, Hindi, Urdu, English and Sanskrit) and has penned several ghazals in Telugu. He was introduced in Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu simultaneously in the movie ‘Jathaka Phala’ (‘Jathakam’) by R Nagendra Rao.
