Angel Locsin, John Lloyd's 'Imortal' comes to an end
ABS-CBN's hit television series "Imortal" is coming to an end this Friday, April 29.
In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Angel Locsin, John Lloyd Cruz's leading lady in the show, extended her gratitude to all the viewers of "Imortal."
"Maraming maraming salamat po sa patuloy niyong pagsuporta ng 'Imortal'. (Biyernes) ay huling gabi na namin. Ito na kung hindi niyo pa nae-experience ang mundo ng 'Imortal' o kung sakaling nakapasok na kayo sa mundo ng 'Imortal' eh huling beses na ito. Kaya sulitin natin. Sabay-sabay nating panoorin (ang ending)," Locsin said Thursday during the party for Avon's 125th year.
She also admitted that it's a bittersweet feeling for her now that their show is set to end.
"Mixed emotions po kasi almost one year po namin tinrabaho ang 'Imortal' at ma-miss namin ang isa't isa. Sa set nga nagkakabiruan na. Kahit pack-up na, hindi makaalis kasi nagkakaroon ng separation anxiety," Locsin said.
"Imortal" tells the story of how great love can stop the centuries-old war between werewolves and vampires.
Lia (Locsin), who is half human, half werewolf, was out to redeem the honor of her parents. She found herself falling in love, though, with Mateo (Cruz), the next most powerful vampire.
As fate dictates, the two were born with special birthmarks symbolizing their power. Lia and Mateo were destined to become mortal enemies, but love changed everything.
The pilot week was directed by Chito Roño, who was behind the box-office horror films “Feng Shui” and “Sukob.” Also at the helm of “Imortal” are directors Trina Dayrit ("Tayong Dalawa") and Jerry Lopez Sineneng ("Kahit Isang Saglit").
“Imortal” also stars Maricar Reyes, Rico Blanco, Jomari Yllana, Jake Roxas, Vivian Velez, Johnny Revilla, and Jaime Fabregas.
Show's ending from viewers' eyes
It's a given: "Imortal" will never be a hit without the support of its viewers. Some of them lost no time in telling abs-cbnNEWS.com how they would want the show to end.
"Patayin na si Rico Blanco ng bonggang-bongga. Tapos gusto ko either mamatay sila pareho o isa sa kanila mamatay para sad ending," said Pepper Cruz, 24, from Quezon City, referring to Rico Blanco's monster character.
Company receptionist Pam Castillo said she wants a peaceful ending. "Siyempre 'yung mabuo ang pamilya ni John Lloyd at Angel. Ang mga bampira at lobo sana magkabati na sila," Castillo said.
Fabegenne Pimentel, 22, who works at a law firm, said she wants to see the death of another antagonist, Magnus (played by Jake Roxas).
"Gusto kong mawala na ng tuluyan si Magnus. Siya kasi talaga ang masama," Pimentel said.
"Magtatagumpay silang mag-asawa. At mai-de-deliver niya ang baby nila. Tapos peace between the lobos and the vampires. Tapos 'yung baby, siya ang magru-rule na sa vampires and lobos. Siya na ang itinakda at punong bantay," Lia Cruz said.
"Imortal", which started airing last October 4, will be replaced by "100 Days to Heaven" on ABS-CBN's prime time block.

Anne Curtis: Hits 1-M followers on Twitter
Television host and actress Anne Curtis is the first Filipino celebrity who has garnered 1 million followers on Twitter.
In her official Twitter account, Curtis thanked everyone who has been following her in the social networking site.
“1 million followers! Wooooow! Thank you to everyone for the follow here on Twitter! Thanks for wanting to follow and read all the nonsense, craziness and random thoughts I like to share,” she posted.
Curtis said she is grateful that Twitter has become a way to bridge the gap between her and her supporters. She noted that it has also become a way for her to reach the people she looks up to.
“I love Twitter for making it possible for me to have instant communication and feedback from you guys and also a way for me to follow the people I admire,” she said.
Being the first celebrity to reach this huge number of followers, Curtis said: “Cheers guys and thank you again for the love and support! Waaaaaah. You all made my day! Love you all!!!”
“I wish I could thank everyone that congratulated me kaya lang baka next month na ako matapos! Hahaha,” she added.
As of posting time, Curtis has 1,003,855 followers on Twitter.
Other local celebrities who have a big following on Twitter are Angel Locsin (615,799), Kris Aquino (611,884), Sam Milby (484,050), Bianca Gonzalez (483,036), and KC Concepcion (471,061). The figures are all as of posting time.
Just last month, a study released by comScore, Inc. revealed that the Philippines is among the top 10 users of the social networking site Twitter in the world.

Angel Locsin and Phil ounghusband Spotted in Hong Kong
Actress Angel Locsin broke her silence on reports saying she was spotted with Azkals' heartthrob Phil Younghusband in Hong Kong last week.
In an interview during the party for Avon's 125th year, Locsin admitted that Younghusband followed her in Hong Kong for her birthday celebration.
"Yeah, he followed. Birthday ko," said Locsin who turned 26 last April 23.
The actress said she does not want to give any more details, stressing that what is important now is she's enjoying the time of her life.
"Ano ba ang sasabihin ko? Wala naman akong tinatago. Basta ako, masaya ako," Locsin told abs-cbnNEWS.com.
A reliable source who knows the couple said that Younghusband gave Locsin a Diane von Furstenberg bag for her birthday.
Pressed if she and Younghusband are now a couple, Locsin said, "Mahirap magsalita ngayon kasi baka ano ang sabihin ng tao. Wala naman kaming tinatago sa inyo. Kung ano ang nakita niyo, 'yun na 'yon."
The actress clarified, "No, no. Too soon pa. Hindi ko alam kung ano ang sasabihin ko. I think mas better kung siya ang tatanungin niyo. Nahihiya ako kasi siya ang guy. I think mas proper kung siya ang sasagot."
Locsin also addressed reports saying she was again seen with the football player at St. Luke's Medical Center last Monday.
"Sa St. Luke's hospital? No. Last Monday, no. Definitely no kasi nasa taping ako. Monday, Wednesday, Friday ay 'Imortal' days. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday ay [nasa] shooting po ako [ng movie]," Locsin said.
Last February, Younghusband publicly asked Locsin via Twitter for a Valentine's date. Although the actress turned down the invite as she was busy that day, the two went out on a date after Valentine's Day.

Matteo Guidicelli fails to follow Maja Salvador to US
Actress Maja Salvador admitted that rumored boyfriend Matteo Guidicelli failed to follow her to the United States.
Salvador was part of the Star Magic US Tour which mounted shows for Filipinos abroad. Salvador and the rest of the Star Magic artists also spent their Holy Week in the US.
Report has it that the two agreed to see each other in the US but Guidicelli wasn't able to make it.
The actress said that although they were apart, they were constantly communicating while she was away.
"In fairness naman, nagpaparamdam siya noong nandoon siya," Salvador said.
Guidicelli spent the Holy Week in Cebu, his home province, with his friends and family.
Even before Salvador left for the US tour, Guidicelli admitted that he will miss the actress.
In a previous interview, Guidicelli said that he and Salvador had grown to be closer because they were almost always together at work.
Last March, Guidicelli finally admitted on the TV show "The Buzz" that he is wooing Salvador.
They first worked together on ABS-CBN's TV show "Wansapanatayms' Inday sa Balitaw."
They came as a couple at the Star Magic Ball last year.

Mutya Orquia always wanted to be a star
Four-year-old Mutya Orquia, lead star of ABS-CBN's fantasy TV series "Mutya", revealed it has always been her dream to join show business.
"Noong bata pa po ako, [sabi ko] sana po maging artista po ako," Orquia told "Showbiz News Ngayon", her first interview with the entertainment media.
The child wonder, whose full name is Angel Olano, also said she is overwhelmed with her popularity ever since her TV series started.
"May fans na po ako. Sabi nila ang cute, cute ko daw po," said Orquia.
Her fans have been giving her gifts like Barbie dolls, for which she is grateful.
Orquia also bared that her showbiz idol is young actor Jairus Aquino, who plays the character of Aries, brother of young mermaid Mutya.
The child actress is turning 5 years old on May 3 and she plans to tour the Philippines with her fans.
"Kumusta kayo mga fans? Sana po manood po kayo palagi ng 'Mutya'," Orquia said.
Precious Lara Quigaman Flashes 'Precious' Undies During Pageant Night
Following criticisms against Venus Raj’s controversial curly hairdo, beauty queen Precious Lara Quigaman also came under fire for how she looked during the Bb. Pilipinas 2011 coronation night.
The Internet was abuzz Sunday night with comments on Quigaman’s daring and sexy dress that showed off her gem-studded underwear because of the gown’s long slit.
In an exclusive interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon” on Thursday, Quigaman said people were probably taken aback only because she does not normally appear on TV wearing sexy dresses.
“Siguro ‘yong mga tao nanibago lang sa akin kasi usually kapag lumalabas ako very safe lang lahat ng suot ko, lahat ng damit ko. So siguro nabigla lang sila,” she said.
Quigaman stressed though that she does not think the gown is obscene.
“I don’t think it’s bastos. Hindi ko siya nakitaan ng kahit ano kasi hindi ko naman siya susuotin if it was. And tinanong ko rin ang mga tao beforehand kung okay lang ba and they said it was okay. Kahit ang mom ko tinanong ko siya, sabi niya okay naman,” she said.
According to the beauty queen, she already liked the design of the gown when she saw it the first time.
“Kapag nagsuot naman ako ng gown hindi para gumawa ng issue or para mag-ingay. Dahil gusto ko talaga. Kung ano ang nakita ko na maganda that would fit me at alam ko na hindi ako bastos, then I would wear it,” she said.
Meanwhile, Quiagaman acknowledges the fact that people have varying opinions and she cannot please everybody.
“Hindi ko iisipin kung ano ang iisipin ng ibang tao. Iba iba naman tayo ng tingin sa lahat ng bagay. Sa ibang tao gusto nila, sa ibang tao hindi nila gusto. Katulad ng lagi nating sinasabi, if you don’t have anything nice to say then huwag ka na lang magsalita. Pero siyempre hindi natin sila mapipigilan,” she said.
Quigaman was one of the pageant’s hosts last Sunday, together with Miriam Quiambao, Derek Ramsay and KC Concepcion.
Charice Pempengco Eyes more Hollywood flicks, Eminem collaboration
Is Charice trading in her mic for a black belt? Not quite.
The teen singing sensation, who recently made waves in the hit TV show "Glee", is taking on a new role and new challenges as she appears in her second Hollywood film "Here Comes The Boom."
In the movie, the pint-sized vocal powerhouse will play a Filipina martial arts student.
The film tells the story of a school about to lose the music department so the school music teacher and students will do everything to keep the music program.
"Here Comes The Boom" also stars Salma Hayek, Kevin James, Henry Winkler, Joe Rogan, Germaine De Leon and Shelly Desai.
In an interview on The Glee Examiner, Charice said she also wants to do more films in the future.
"I would love to act in a Horror movie," she said in the interview.
She also bared that she hopes to do a collaboration with Eminem. "Love to rap with Eminem," Charice said.

Pops Fernandez Denies Romance with Chiz Escudero, Jojo Ochoa
Concert queen Pops Fernandez has vehemently denied reports romantically linking her to Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero and Executive Secretary Paquito “Jojo” Ochoa Jr.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Thursday, Fernandez said she does not even know Escudero personally.
“I just woke up...and I almost fell off my bed. Only because I have never really met him,” Fernandez said.
She said she is totally clueless as to where the rumors are coming from.
The singer, however, admitted that she and Ochoa have already met twice but there’s no reason for people to put color into it.
“I met him through a common friend. I joined them for dinner. At least ‘yon na-meet ko pa si executive secretary [Ochoa]. Pero hindi rin totoo ang tsismis na iyon,” she said.
According to Fernandez, she remains single although there are non-showbiz people who are currently making her happy.
Fernandez added that she is enjoying her private life away from the limelight.
Meanwhile, the singer confessed that she feels a little envious about Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, who is 2 months pregnant.
She revealed that she wants to have another baby, a girl this time, since both her sons with Martin Nievera have grown up.
“I’m not desperate, don’t get me wrong. But every time I see kids kasi, parang oh my gosh I never had the chance to have a girl,” she said.
Fernandez said she is hoping that God will grant her this blessing.

Binibining Pilipinas International 'Dianne Necio' Arrives in Albay for dad's wake
It was an emotional homecoming for Binibining Pilipinas-International 2011 Dianne Necio, whose father died on Tuesday morning due to cardiomyopathy.
Dianne arrived in her hometown Albay around 2 p.m. Wednesday, a day earlier than her scheduled arrival. The beauty queen was supposed to attend the Mutya ng Magayon 2011 contest set on Thursday.
Her relatives were waiting at the airport when she arrived. From the airport, she went straight home for the wake of her father, Edwin.
As she was being tightly embraced by her only sibling, she wept as she saw the remains of her father.
Dianne was in Manila attending to her duties as a beauty queen when Edwin passed away.
Although she already prepared herself for the inevitable ever since her father was diagnosed with the disease, Dianne said it is still hard to accept that he is already gone.
Edwin was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a disease that weakens and enlarges the heart muscle, in 2006.
She said she last talked to him when she went home after winning the Binibining Pilipinas-International title. Her father was then confined at a hospital.
She said her father seemed to be saying his final goodbyes, but she chose to ignore them.
“Hindi ko expected na ‘yon na ‘yon. ‘Yon na ‘yong huli. Sabi ko, ‘Huwag muna kasi pupunta pa tayo ng China,’” she said.
The beauty titlist will compete in 2011 Miss International in Chengdu, Sichuan province in China in November.
As she prepares herself for the international beauty pageant, she said her father and mother, who died when she was in Grade 2, will serve as her inspiration.

Former Actress Aiko Melendez sued for libel by ex-bf
Bulacan, Bulacan Mayor Patrick Meneses files a libel case against his former girlfriend, Aiko Melendez, before the Malolos Regional Trial Court on Thursday afternoon for violation of Article 353 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines.
This is in connection with Melendez’s supposed remarks on Twitter about his sexuality.
"I have to stand up for this kasi 'yung pagkatao ko 'yung sisirain dito," said Meneses.
Pandi Mayor Enrico Roque, referred to as Meneses' alleged lover, also filed a libel case against Melendez and 3 movie scribes. He is seeking P5 million in damages.
"Meron akong mga pamilya, mga nasasaktan, asawa't anak na maapektuhan, siyempre pati mga constituents ko. Doon tayo sa tama,” Roque said.
The Bulacan Mayors League has expressed its support for Meneses and Roque.
The group passed a resolution labelling people who will be proven to be behind the smear campaign as “persona non grata.”
"Kami'y naniniwala sa integridad nila... na sila ay hindi gagawa ng ganung paratang," said Mayor Paula Carla Tan of San Ildefonso.
Melendez temporarily refused to comment on the matter. She said she will give a statement on Sunday.
On April 24, one of the hosts of a TV5 show reportedly showed Meneses a transcript of direct messages on Twitter between Melendez and a still unidentified person.
The transcript allegedly contains Melendez’s accusation about the real sexuality of her former boyfriend.
In her interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon” on Tuesday, Melendez maintained that it is not her character to badmouth other people.
According to the Malolos Regional Trial Court, the case may focus just on the accountability of Melendez. This, after she insisted that her private messages were hacked and were made public.
